About GulfWire

About GulfWire

GulfWire brings offshore fishing reports and practical ocean information together for people heading onto Gulf of Mexico blue water.

GulfWire is an independent offshore fishing and ocean-data platform owned and operated by Gulfwire LLC.

The community layer

Blue-water reports

The Gulf Wire app is a public home for Gulf of Mexico offshore fishing reports. Anglers can use the reports to see what other people have observed offshore, add their own experience, and keep trip planning grounded in real reports rather than a promise of a forecast.

Reports are observations shared through the service. They can be incomplete, delayed, or specific to the trip and conditions where they were made, so they work best as one input alongside current local knowledge and official information.

GulfWire Pro

Ocean maps

GulfWire Pro presents observational ocean-data layers including SST (sea surface temperature), chlorophyll, currents, salinity, and sargassum. These layers help provide context around an offshore area without turning an observation into a recommendation.

Layer freshness varies by source and product. Cloud gaps, missing cells, and other coverage gaps can occur. Ocean maps are observational layers, not predictions, forecasts, or a guarantee of conditions at a specific waypoint or time.

Private by design

Vessel tracking

Track My Boat is a private, user-started view. It requires explicit location permission on a supported device/browser. It is not an always-on tracker, does not promise background tracking, and does not publish your position for public sharing.

Separately, GulfWire can display verified offshore drillship positions. Those positions are distinct from Track My Boat and are not comprehensive live vessel coverage.

Trip estimates

Route & fuel planning

Route planning lets you set your own waypoints and see distance, time, fuel, and remaining fuel estimates. The estimates are calculated from the speed and fuel burn you enter, so they are planning aids based on your inputs rather than a promise about a trip.

Route planning does not promise hazard avoidance, weather adjustment, or current adjustment. Check official charts, notices, weather information, equipment, and local conditions before making decisions offshore.
