Delete your GulfWire account
GulfWire is operated by GulfWire LLC. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data without signing in, installing the app, or making a purchase.
Delete your entire account online
Use our secure self-service flow to delete your entire GulfWire account—not just suspend or deactivate it. Sign in to verify account ownership, review what will be removed, then explicitly confirm permanent deletion. No email to customer service, app installation, boat membership, or subscription is required.
Continue to secure account deletionThis information page is public. Verification is required only before deleting an account. Opening this page or signing in does not delete anything.
After confirmation, GulfWire uses the same permanent account-deletion process as the native app. The confirmation screen reports success only after the server confirms deletion. If a connection or cleanup error prevents confirmation, it shows an error rather than claiming your account was deleted.
Cannot access your account?
Email is an additional recovery or content-removal option, not the only deletion method.
- Email privacy@gulfwire.net, preferably from the email address associated with your GulfWire account.
- Use the subject GulfWire account deletion request. Include your account email and state that you want your account and associated personal data deleted.
- If you also want specific reports, comments, or shared photos removed, identify them in your request. You do not need to sign in to make this request.
If the button does not open your email app, compose an email manually to privacy@gulfwire.net. Never send your password, payment-card details, or authentication codes.
GulfWire LLC may ask for limited information to verify account ownership before acting on a request. If you cannot access your account email, explain that in your message so we can review alternative verification. We will respond through the request correspondence.
The email option sends a request only when you send the message. The self-service option requires a separate explicit deletion confirmation.
What account deletion removes
When account deletion is processed, the normal account-deletion process removes:
- Your GulfWire sign-in account and access to that account.
- Your boat memberships, active-boat selection, follows, report-alert preferences, notifications, join requests, likes, and block settings.
- Your account-linked local Pro access, trial, and subscription records. This does not itself cancel a subscription held by a payment provider.
- Your authored fishing reports, comments, and associated moderation submissions. Comments and likes attached to removed reports are also removed.
- Your uploaded photos, including photos previously used by a shared report or boat. References to those photos are removed. File cleanup can finish separately from account removal; failed cleanup is retried.
Your authored content is deleted
Your fishing reports and comments are removed, not retained under “Deleted angler.” Your uploaded photos are included in permanent file cleanup even if they were displayed on a shared report or boat.
Other users’ independent content and shared boat records are not automatically deleted. Remaining crew members keep their memberships and boat administration. If another person’s content contains your personal information, identify it in a privacy request so we can review it.
Older-photo limitation: some older permanent photos were saved without an uploader ownership record. Photos attached to your authored reports can be identified from those reports; older boat photos or detached files without an ownership record may require individual review. We cannot promise automatic removal of an unidentifiable historical upload. Include any such photos in your privacy request.
Retention periods and exceptions
- Account and personal settings: the self-service flow starts deletion after your explicit confirmation and reports the server result in that session. There is no intentional waiting period before starting deletion. GulfWire does not currently publish a fixed maximum number of days for manual requests, failed-cleanup retries, or completion of file cleanup. Applicable legal deadlines still apply.
- Upload cleanup: issued upload links must expire and in-flight uploads must settle before final file cleanup, to prevent a late upload from recreating a deleted photo. The default upload-link lifetime is 20 minutes, followed by a one-hour settlement allowance; cleanup is checked every five minutes. Pending object paths remain in a cleanup queue until deletion succeeds; there is no fixed maximum during a storage outage.
- Deletion-safety record: a minimal record of the deleted account identifier and deletion time is retained indefinitely to prevent delayed activity from recreating the deleted account's data.
- Administrative business records: if you administered sponsors or granted another account complimentary access, sponsor assets and administrative attribution in those business records are not erased by personal account deletion. They preserve business continuity and an audit history; no automatic expiration is currently configured.
- Legal, accounting, and security records: limited records may be retained where necessary for applicable legal or tax obligations, payment disputes, fraud prevention, security, or establishing or defending legal claims. The period depends on the applicable requirement; no single fixed period applies. Such records are retained only for the necessary period, including any required legal hold.
- Service-provider records: payment providers and other service providers may retain records they are legally required to keep under their own retention policies. GulfWire cannot promise deletion of independently held provider records on a fixed schedule.
You can ask privacy@gulfwire.net which records are retained in your case, the reason, and the applicable retention period.
Subscriptions and in-app deletion
Deleting your GulfWire account does not automatically cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. To stop future charges, cancel through the store where you purchased it. Cancellation is not required before account deletion.
- Apple App Store: on your iPhone or iPad, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → GulfWire → Cancel Subscription. You can also open Apple subscription management.
- Google Play: open the Play Store using the Google account used for purchase → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → GulfWire → Cancel subscription. You can also open Google Play subscription management.
- Web purchases: manage your subscription through your GulfWire web billing account. Contact support if you cannot access billing.
The native app provides My Boat → Settings → Safety & Privacy → Delete Account, followed by two confirmations. If you have no boat membership, the Safety & Privacy section is available directly on My Boat. This initiates permanent deletion directly.
